Autumn 1

Children have taken a big step into Nursery.

Our theme this Autumn 1 is ‘WHO AM I?’ Children are learning the new Nursery routine; watching the world around us; developing social skills; exploring different areas; listening and talking to new friends and adults.

They start their session finding their photo and name on the self-registration board, hanging their bag and jacket on their pegs. Everybody needs to wash their hands often, blow their nose and use the toilet independently.

At story time, children can learn new words, phrases, beginning to listen to stories and look at books independently.

Every day they learn and recap songs and rhymes with lots of different actions. They are discovering the marks they can make in sand, using paint or in corn flour and how to manipulate and control lots of different tools such as pens, brushes or scissors.

Children are beginning to know and enjoy the daily routine such as ‘first story time then snack time.’ At the end of the day, we all have to tidy up and put all toys in the correct box, finding ‘the same.’ Children are developing their confidence to come to the front of the group and choose their favourite number song.
