Summer Update

Schools in the past, Careers day and Geogrphy Day

What a busy Summer Term we have had in year 1. In Topic we have been learning about Play in the Past and schools in the past. I am sure the children have been asking many questions to find out more about the past!! We visited the Museum of Childhood to see how people played in the past. Children had the opportunity to explore toys and they compared the toys from today and from the past.

Children got to think about what they wanted to be when they grow up and we looked at lots of different careers during Careers day. We researched what the police, lifeguards, builders and air hostesses did as part of their jobs. We also got the opportunity to ask lots of questions to some professionals who came in to speak about their careers! Thank you to our special guest who came to speak to the children about what a police officer does!!

As part of Geography Day, Year 1 went to carry out some field work in West Ham Park. We looked at the environment and studied wild flowers and plants around the park. We also made memory sticks with materials from the park. It was a very exciting day and children learnt a lot about their environment!!
