Autumn 1

What a busy Autumn Term we have had in year 1. In Maths we have been focussing on number this term. The children have been learning about addition and subtraction using cups, ordering and partitioning numbers. Curwen’s maths open morning was a huge success and we hope that you have found it useful and feel confident in supporting your children at home.

In Topic we have been learning about The Local Area. The children explored West Ham Park and the local Greenway to identify physical and human features. They discovered that Plaistow has more human features than physical.

In RE the topic has been Sikhism. The children have been working very hard to celebrate what they have learnt and put on a fantastic performance about Guru Nanak and Sikhism. Full of information about the 5 K’s, a song and a bhangra dance. We can clearly see that the parents loved it too!!!
