  • Dance Festival

    On Friday 24th November, 18 girls went to Gainsborough primary school. There were 6 other schools taking part in the festival. 

    Curwen performed their dance very well even though they were nervous and haven't performed to a big group of people and students, they managed to pull it out the bag and came 3rd within the festival.

  • Boys Tag Rugby Festival

    Curwen competed at their fourth TTLT competition of the year on Friday 10th November as they travelled to Memorial Park for a boy’s Tag Rugby festival. There were 10 schools and over 120 boys competing at the festival, with Curwen being placed alongside Ranelagh, Kensington and North Beckton in Group 1. The boys won their first two games 5-3 and 5-0 against North Beckton and Ranelagh. They further impressed in their last group game, defeating Kensington by 6 trys to 1 to deservedly finish top of the group and make sure they collected gold medals. Well done to these children who represented the school amazingly: Nico (6R), Matej (6R), Sekou (6A), Samuel (6A), Lakshikan (6A), Dimitri (6K), Nathan (6C), Mikaeel (6C), Herbert (5T), Aadam (5T).

  • Year 6 trip to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

    This week, we learnt all about the different roles in the world of technology. We were able to experience these roles and use our skills to create our own apps to help solve a problem. We worked in teams to create presentations and presented these to the professionals at the FCA who were extremely impressed with all of our ideas.

  • Year 3 visit to ‘The London Centre.’

    On Wednesday 18th October 2023, year 3 visited The London Centre to learn about different job roles in architecture and construction. They looked at different models of buildings in London and learnt about the importance of different subjects and made cross curricular links when discussing different structures. All the children met adults doing variety of job roles such as an architect and structural engineer. The children asked them questions to understand their job roles. In the end, all pupil designed their own future school models and were excited to then create a 3D model of their design using paper, glues, scissors, sticks and masking tape.

  • Year 5 visit to KPMG

    Year 5 had the opportunity to visit KPMG to look at how businesses can be sustainable. This is a part of their World of Work week. Year 5 had to think about how their product could be sustainable, whether this could be renewable resources or a product that can last for a very long time. Year 5 worked as a team and thought about the core skills such as teamwork and innovation that they could focus on for their sustainable product.

  • Bikeability training

    On Friday afternoon, 6 girls from year 6 went out for bikeablity training. We rode from school to Holland Road, where the girls took part in some drills. All the girls successfully rode with confidence and were very happy with what they had achieved. 

    We then went onto the Greenway and travelled to memorial park and the girls rode down and up the hill leading to the park. The girls enjoyed the session. 

    Well done to Iraq, Alexia, Diana, Tia, Wahiba, and Carolina.

  • Boys Football Festival

    Curwen competed at their third TTLT competition of the year on Friday 13th October as they travelled to Memorial Park for a boy’s football festival. 

    There were 9 schools and over 120 boys competing at the festival with Curwen being placed alongside Earlham, Carpenters and Kaizen in Group 1. The boys won their first two games 4-0 against Kaizen and Earlham to set up a group deciding match against Carpenters. Both teams showed their quality but it was Curwen who emerged victorious with a hard-fought 3-1 win to claim the trophy.

    Well done to these children who represented the school amazingly: Ade (4GM), Anas (4GM), Benji (4GM), Lucas (4GM), Harley (4GM), Rome (4M), Alhaaz (4M), Barack (4G), Zakariya (4G), Benjamin (4G).

  • WHUF Sports competition

    On Thursday, 10 year 5 and 6 girls took part in their second football competition at West Ham foundation. 

    There were roughly 21 schools that attended the competition. Curwen played against Gainsborough, Rosetta, St Lukes and Scott Wilkie. All the girls played very well. They should be proud of themselves. 

    A massive well done to Kasey Ann our Goal keeper.

  • Year 4 trip to Shaftsbury Theatre

    For World of Work Week, Year 4’s theme was Showcase. As part of this exciting theme, Year 4 went on a visit backstage to the Shaftsbury Theatre in London’s West End. The children got to experience what life is like for the actors both on the stage and backstage in the wings. They also got to learn about the jobs of the stage manager and technicians and see how such large pieces of scenery and stage can be stored in such small areas. Additionally, Year 4 also had the opportunity to walk around the auditorium and visit a royal box whilst learning about the jobs of the box office and front of house team.

  • Curwen meets Sir Lenny Henry

    Yesterday, our MASt Literacy students had an amazing time meeting Sir Lenny Henry (actor, comedian, writer and all-round Renaissance man). They were treated to a morning of storytelling, jokes, questions and top tips on how to become a successful writer. Phoebe-Grace (Y5) even got to tell Sir Lenny a joke, and some pupils got their books signed by the man himself.
