Maths

The intent of the Curwen maths curriculum is to ensure our children SHINE- for them to be the best mathematicians they can be, be ready for the next stages in their educational journeys and fundamentally develop a genuine love for maths.

Within maths, children will be successful if they can develop fluency and reasoning across the curriculum. They will be healthy and safe if they develop the correct strategies within maths to overcome and persevere when faced with challenging problems. Children have a sense of identity by being encouraged to become self-confident, resilient, mature and independent. They will feel nurtured when they know that they are supported in their learning and are able to support each other. In addition to this, the children feel confident enough to ask for help and know how to seek help. They are engaged by developing key knowledge and skills which is evident within our Curwen curriculum.
