ASSESSMENT RESULTS 2015-16
Along with the rest of the country, pupils at Curwen are assessed: at the end of EYFS as they leave Reception and move into year 1; at the end of year 1 in a ‘Phonics Check’; at the end of KS1 as they leave year 2 and move into year 3; at the end of KS2 as they leave year 6 and move onto secondary school. At these key assessment points, Curwen is then judged against other schools both locally and nationally to ensure that we are providing a high-quality education for our pupils, and supporting them to be ready for the next phase in their development.
2015-16 saw a change from the traditional ‘levels’ with which we have assessed pupils for many years, and a move towards assessing whether or not pupils achieved the ‘Expected Level’, were ‘Working Towards’ expected or working at ‘Greater Depth’. Along with this came an increase in the expected level that pupils would need to achieve at both KS1 and KS2.
We are pleased to report that despite these changes and higher expectations, across the board our pupils achieved considerably above the nationally expected level. We are extremely proud of the hard work and fantastic achievement of our pupils, and of course this would not have been possible without the support and commitment of our staff, parents and carers.
