Summer 2
Year 3 Summer Maths Website Update

This term, our brilliant Year 3 mathematicians have been exploring the fascinating connection between fractions and decimals. We have been focusing closely on tenths, learning that when a whole is divided into ten equal parts, each piece is a tenth 1/10. The children had some fantastic "lightbulb moments" as they discovered that this can also be written as the decimal 0.1!

Through hands-on activities, place value grids, and number lines, the pupils have been counting confidently in tenths and mastering the role of the decimal point. It has been wonderful to see them realize that 1/10 and 0.1 are simply two different ways of showing the exact same value.
Year 3 Topic website update Summer
This term, our Topic unit took a deep dive into energy and the environment! We explored various types of pollution and brainstormed creative ways to reduce our environmental impact. In class, we also compared renewable and non-renewable energy while discovering how reducing waste and recycling can help us live more sustainably. To share our passion with the community and encourage people to protect our planet, we even designed our own T-shirts for a sustainability march!
Literacy Summer 2
This term, the class explored a diverse range of literature, including The Secret G
arden, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Our discussions were based on the complex themes such as friendship, revenge, and forgiveness, with a particular focus on the dynamics between children and the influential adults in their lives. Most students have shown great enthusiasm for reading aloud to their peers, they have also been given reading buddies which allowed them to help each other. It has been great to witness their significant progress in both oral fluency and confidence.
