Summer Term Literacy:
This term in Literacy, your children truly blossomed!
A highlight was their visit to the Roald Dahl Museum, which proved to be an incredibly enriching experience. We observed a direct and very positive impact on their in-school literacy work, as the trip significantly boosted their ability to write more creatively and imaginatively.
Maths
In Maths this half-term, the children started learning about how to make estimations, round and explore decimal numbers.
First, they recapped their understanding of place value in order to understand how numbers round up or down. Then, they learnt the meaning of estimation and how this links to rounding. The children also used a place value chart with to understand how to write decimal numbers.
In addition, the children have also been learning about negative numbers and have started to add and take away negative numbers using a number line.
Topic
In Topic this term, we have been learning all about energy and the environment. We learned about different types of pollution and discussed ways of reducing it to protect our environment. In class, we also talked about renewable and non-renewable energy and how to be sustainable by reducing waste and recycling resources. To encourage people to look after our planet, we designed T-shirts for a march promoting sustainability.
