Spring Update

Yet another exciting term, packed with fantastic learning opportunities! In Literacy we have learnt about information texts and to using our imagination to create a fantasy story. We have also explored letter writing, as well as using persuasive speech in our writing.

In topic we have been learning all about significant people that have has a positive impact on lives all over the world. In particular we looked at Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, Emmeline Pankhurst and Mahatma Ghandi. What amazing people they were. They inspired some children to write a play with Mr Drayton, which they performed in our Big Outcome Arts Exhibition

Also at our Arts Exhibition, children performed a song and dance, and presented their Art work and Design Technology work, which included hand puppets, India-inspired collages and tiles, and mixed media artwork. It was wonderful to see so many visitors sharing in our success.

That’s not all though…

In Science, we have been learning about animals and humans. In Maths, we have been working hard on learning to calculate fractions and use different operations to solve problems. Also, we have been working as a team in Enabling Enterprise to create our own cafe, something that we will continue to work on next term.

International Week was another huge success. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about places, people and cultures around the world, especially during Mini-World. However, I think the children would say that they crowning achievement of the term was winning the fantastic International Week Carnival! The children’s costumes and dance was fabulous. Well done Year 2!

What an exciting year we have had so far. We’re really looking forward to sharing lots more of our work with you in the summer term.
