Spring 2 Update

Maths

We hosted another successful Maths Problem Solving morning and parents were invited to come along and support their children. It was fantastic to see the children focused and engaged with maths reasoning and problem solving. It was a wonderful opportunity for teachers and support staff to see the pupils building their resilience skills as well as show parents a number of strategies to take home.

Literacy

We have been learning all about the powers of persuasion in literacy and the students put this into practice by writing a persuasive letter to Mr Harris in order to convince him to support the needy children of the favelas. We also linked our literacy to international week and were exploring many wonderful stories from other cultures. We especially enjoyed hearing the children tell us storied from their own cultures.

Science

We enjoyed learning about the water cycle in science, especially when we got to use Now Press Play and take part in an exciting drama about a water droplet! We had particular fun linking this learning to computing. We used Purple Mash to make an animation of the Water Cycle, ask the children to log on and show you their fabulous work!

International Week

Of course we couldn’t review our half term without mentioning the AMAZING international week! As ever, we had the best time. We worked incredibly hard in the months leading up to carnival practising our dance moves and designing glamorous t-shirts and masks to celebrate the fabulous carnival style of Brazil. We also loved transforming our classrooms into Brazil and Colombia for Mini World and all that hard work paid off when 4G won the best Mini World experience for LKS2!
