  • A Term of Incredible Achievements! - Summer update

    Published 10/07/26, by Holly Croxall

Our fantastic School Councillors have had an incredibly busy and productive term! From charitable initiatives to community outreach and sweet treats, their hard work and dedication have truly shone through. Here is a look at what they have accomplished:

To support the Young Minds charity, the School Council organised a special non-uniform day, where children were encouraged to wear colours that represented their feelings. Alongside this, they ran highly energetic lunchtime Kahoot sessions for different Key Stages. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised an astonishing £406.00!

    Sweet Success

On Friday, 24th April, the council took complete initiative to organise a fantastic Bake Sale to raise funds for Curwen. The children worked incredibly hard—decorating cupcakes at school, bringing in delicious homemade brownies and cakes, planning the stalls, and serving up treats with a smile. Their dedication paid off beautifully, raising a grand total of £227.40! A massive thank you to all parents and carers for your wonderful support.

    The Relaxation Station

Throughout the year, the School Councillors have also been successfully running the Relaxation Station on the school bus in the playground.

A peaceful space for children in the blue, yellow, or red zones to help them regulate their emotions and feel ready to learn. The whole purpose was to build a friendly environment to make new friends while enjoying reading, comic strip making, bingo, colouring and origami.

    Spreading Kindness in Our Community

On 12th June, our School Council stepped out into the local neighbourhood for a wonderful community appreciation project. Demonstrating brilliant communication skills and teamwork, they greeted our local residents in a variety of languages, including Bangla (Assalamu Alaikum/হ্যালো), Urdu (Assalamu Alaikum/السلام علیکم), Romanian (Bună), and Portuguese (Olá).

To share their gratitude, the students designed beautiful thank you cards and put together lovely small hampers filled with sweets, tea bags, and plant seeds, delivering them personally to our neighbours’ doors.

    Cooling Down with Ice Lollies

To round off their amazing efforts and help everyone cool down in the summer heat, the School Councillors ran a brilliant after-school Ice Lolly Sale in the playground. It was a huge success, bringing in smiles all around and raising another fantastic £175.16!

We are immensely proud of our School Councillors for their creativity, leadership, and innovation this term. They have not only raised vital funds but have also made our school and local community a brighter, kinder place. Thank you to everyone who supported their events!

  • School Council Community Project

    Published 10/07/26, by Holly Croxall

On 12th June, the Curwen School Council undertook a wonderful community project to show appreciation for their local neighbours. School Councillors stepped out into the neighbourhood to offer warm greetings, beautifully connecting with residents by using a variety of languages including Bangla (হ্যা লো / Assalamu Alaikum), Urdu (علیکم السالم / Assalamu Alaikum), Romanian (Bună), and Portuguese (Olá).

To share their gratitude, the students thoughtfully designed thank you cards and prepared delightful small hampers filled with sweets, tea bags, and plant seeds. They then personally delivered these tokens of gratitude to homes in their local area, extending a warm, personal thank you to each neighbour. This entire endeavour was a testament to the students' strong communication skills, collaborative teamwork, and creative innovation.
