Autumn 1

Our theme is ‘Who am I?’ The children and parents have been settling into Nursery really well over the last 7 weeks. They have been learning to recognise their picture and say their name.  The children are now confident to say goodbye to their parents/carers and hello to the nursery staff. They are enjoying their time in nursery and beginning to explore the environment around them.

The children have been learning some familiar nursery rhymes and we have begun to introduce story time, the children are beginning to learn new words, phrases and beginning to listen to stories as well as look at books independently in the book corner. The children have enjoyed making their monsters using media. They are discovering the marks they can make using different tools.

At the end of each session, we learn and repeat songs and rhymes with lots of different actions. They enjoy moving their body to these rhymes. The children enjoy climbing and running outside and are able to follow simple one-step instructions to play with their friends.

The children are beginning follow the routines and tolerate one another’s needs. We are using key language, please, thank you, good morning, good afternoon, sorry, my turn, your turn and I would like… The children will have a go and enjoy showing the adults what they are doing or what they have made.

We have six steps we help the children with to build their independence.

The children have done incredibly well and we are looking forward to seeing them grow in Autumn 2.
