In Geography this term Year 3 have been learning about maps and mapping skills. We started by discussing how maps are useful and we also found information on maps with the help of grid references. In class, we located cities, counties and regions on the UK map and identified some physical features such as rivers, mountains and coastlines. We then used different maps, including Google maps, to locate familiar places in our local area.

During our Big Outcome we, put all our geographical knowledge and skills together to design a sketch map of our local area. In class, we added a key to explain the different symbols on our maps and talked about why keys are important. Then we walked to Valetta Grove Recreation Grounds and plotted the symbols on the maps by carefully looking at the human features around us.
