The Summer Holiday Activities Brochure showcases the wide range of opportunities available for children and young people across the borough this summer, including details of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme.
Here you will find a range of activities available during the holidays. Please read the information carefully as some things need to be booked in advance.

Plaistow Library - Summer Reading Challenge activities

Music Unlocked (SEND Programme)
Music Unlocked is a series of inclusive music-making sessions for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), delivered in a welcoming and accessible environment.
The sessions are designed to be accessible, engaging and enjoyable for young people of all abilities and musical backgrounds.

Newham Future Swimmers
Information: This FREE initiative, led by Newham & UEL Swimming Club has been specifically designed to engage pupils who are receiving income related free school meals, helping to improve access to essential life skills through swimming. No barriers to entry. Swimwear, goggles, swimming cap and all equipment will be provided if needed. Week 1: A structured crash course for children with little or no prior swimming experience. Week 2: Skill-building sessions for children who have had prior swimming experience and would benefit from further skill development.
Date: Week 1: 3rd to 7th August & Week 2: 10th to 14th August Time: 9-11am (30-minute slots available)

Access Sports Inclusive Multi-Sports and Hoopz Festival
Information: The festival will be open to D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent young people and their families in Newham, or those who live nearby, aged 5 - 25. There will be the opportunity to enjoy multiple inclusive sports activities delivered by a range of providers from across the borough.

GLL Newham Active Communities Summer Programme
Information: Join GLL Newham's Active Communities team this summer for our biggest holiday programme yet! Running from Monday 27th July to Friday 28th August, children and young people aged 5–16 can enjoy six weeks of FREE fun themed weeks. This summer includes exciting Football, Basketball and Badminton Weeks, all delivered by qualified coaches in their field. From sports and games to making new friends and staying active, there’s something for everyone this summer.

Information: Join GLL Newham's Leisure Centres this summer for a fun-filled holiday. Across Newham Leisure Centre, East Ham Leisure Centre and Atherton Leisure Centre, there will be extra activities and sessions including Junior Gym, Soft Play, Family Fun Splash and Swim for All, and more! Offering something for everyone to stay active, have fun and make new friends this summer.

King George V Skate Park
Information: The Council have been refurbishing an area of King George V Park into a new and exciting area for Urban Sports! The new Skate Park will be opening this summer, to keep up to date check out the website below.

Newham Summer Parks Challenge with BetterPoints
Information: Families are invited to explore Newham’s parks and open spaces together, earning extra BetterPoints, discovering fun facts and collecting virtual medals along the way. Take part by walking, wheeling, cycling or running, and earn double points for park activities for up to 150 minutes per week. Download the FREE BetterPoints app, use the referral code ‘newhamparks’ and get the whole family active this summer.

Pan Disability Basketball
Information: Pan Disability Basketball sessions delivered by Access Sport in partnership with Basketball England. These sessions are for children and young people with a disability and their siblings aged between 5 to 25 years.
