Music Curriculum Vision

Curwen Primary School’s music offering is anchored firmly in the National Curriculum for Music, following the aims of the Model Music Curriculum; the universal provision of music education.

Music is a vehicle to promote the development of the whole child using SHINE in an exciting curriculum of sequenced progression in the four key areas:

- singing

- listening

- composing

- performing.

Using music as a tool to create a positive and secure environment, students can develop our Curwen Core Skills both in music lessons and our broader music offering.  Music is also used to recognise and celebrate the diversity of the community we serve through a holistic programme of performance experiences and outcomes, whilst broadening the cultural capital of our children.

It is a subject which all children can access and excel within, with the appropriate support and enrichment.
