Read Birthdays around the World on Bug Club and answer the questions below.


  1. What is a wreath? (See page 6 or find the glosaary).
  2. In China some children eat eggs on their birthday. Why do they eat eggs?

Telling the time

To help with telling the time you can draw or design your own clock.  Cut out a long hand and short that children can move.


Start with o’clock and explain why the minute hand is on 12.

Then move on to half past. Explain why the hand is on the 6. Keep testing children on different times. Can they show you 3 o’clock? Can they show you half past 4.

Our Science topic is Animals and their habitats.


Last week you designed a habitat and described what the habiat was like and what animals you may find.


This week you will be looking at what animals and humans need to survive.

Our Geography topic this term would have been Travelling around the UK.


Can you compare the UK to different countries in different continents? You might want to choose the country your class were going to represent for International Week (Ghana or Japan).

You can look at food, architecture, traditional clothes, capital cities, population, school, famous landmarks, language and sports.


You can show your findings/research as a leaflet or postcard. You can include features such as a Title, Contents page, Introduction, Sub headings, Captions, Diagrams/pictures and Glossary.
